"Undermining" the "sanctity of marriage"
one commitment ceremony and alternative wedding
at a time...
Mission Statement
Ideally, we would live in a world without the need for state-sanctified marriage. We are, after all, equals... or so those words of self-evident truths this country was founded upon would have us believe. Love is the great sanctifier, not law. The church and city hall may not recognize that, but we do, and we want to help you plan your special day with the one you love.
You can bring us your own ideas or brainstorm with us to create a ceremony. As long as it's legal, your options are limited only by imagination within the bounds of resource. We can't, say, summon the dead or rig an election, but we can help you along the road to bringing your dreams to life. We're not gods, though, so we can't promise perfection, but we can promise you fun and we can promise to give every aspect the attention and respect it deserves.
We work together over the internet with each other and with you and yours. Bring whatever gods and goddesses, friends, family, and strangers alike to the table, and we will honor them and you. Marriage is more than just a legal term, more than a piece of paper, more than law. It is the forming of one from the lives of two and those that touch them. It is the little things: the sound of your other in the shower before work, the warmth of them next to you in a dark theater, every faint familiar smell and sight. It is all this and more. It is beyond definition.
A ceremonial commitment before witnesses is an attempt to bring that marriage out, to make tangible the enigmatic. It is also a grand opportunity to show and share this beautiful thing with others in your life. To but for a moment, for a day, be able to bring them in and for them to bare witness and take joy in celebration as that marriage is honored.
Gay? Lesbian? Bi? Transgender? Pagan? Atheist? Agnostic? Whatever your calling, whatever your identity, the church and state may stand against you or not recognize your beliefs, but we recognize only love. Want an option? Well, here we are.
